Parker, 86, of Sherman, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday Dec. 22, 2010, at Waldo Funeral Home with Ken Mullins of the Western Heights Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. She died Saturday Dec. 18, 2010, at the Settlers Ridge Care Center. Surviving are her daughter, Cheryl Parker Lange of Norfolk, Va.; son, Clayton Parker of Van Alstyne; brother, Ray Coker of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Herald Democrat December 21, 2010 SHERMAN - Thelma Louise Parker, known to her family and friends as Dixie Parker, passed away on Dec. 18, 2010. She was born on Jan. 15, 1924 in Bessemer, Alabama and married Robert C. Parker, on Jan. 24, 1944. She was a graduate of McAdory High School in Bessemer, Ala. Thelma worked as a licensed beautician and owned her own beauty shop. She earned her licensed vocational nurse certification at Grayson County College. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Coker and Sarah Dorothy Coker; her sister, Annette Baker; brothers, Jim Coker and Charles Coker and her son, Donald Winfield Parker. She is survived by her family, brother Ray Coker of Phoenix, Ariz.; her daughter, Cheryl Parker Lange of Norfolk, Virginia; her son, Clayton Parker and his wife Celeste of Van Alstyne; granddaughter, Kathleen Mesaros, husband Thom Mesaros and their children Carl, Julie, Jake, Ben, and Noah of Salt Lake City, Utah; granddaughter Sarah Butler and husband Peter of Austin, and their children, Sophie and August; grandson Bryant Parker of Austin, and granddaughter Lynn Parker of Sherman and her sons, Landon and Nolan. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and her life was spent caring for her family, working as a nurse and as a faithful member of the Church of Christ. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 -7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at Waldo Funeral Home, 619 N. Travis St., Sherman. The funeral will at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22 at Waldo Funeral Home with Ken Mullins of the Western Heights Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro, Texas with Bryant Parker, Matthew Myers, Mike Keown, Ken Lawrence, Richard Oglesby, and Isidro Aguirre serving as pallbearers.
