Whitesboro - Funeral services for Inda Mary Young, 95, were held Tuesday, November 22, 2011; interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery, Whitesboro. India passed away in the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital - WNJ in Sherman, Texas.
She leaves her son, Glenn Young and fiance, Ruby, of Whitesboro; and son Carl Young and wife, Rashonda, of Ashdown, Arkansas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Ranne of California and Ronnie Ranne of New Mexico; a sister, Jocille Tipton of Alabama.
Inda began a teaching career at Delaware Bend, north of Dexter, Texas. It was while teaching school there she met her future husband, a local young man who lived near the schoo. Inda married Sidney D. Young in Durant, Oklahoma on June 26, 1941. Soon her husband was to serve his country and when in 1945 upon being discharged from the Army, Inda and Sidney settled in Pomona, California and raised their three boys, Glenn, Carl and Gene.
Inda's career included teaching school in California, counseling women at the CRC Women's Prison in Norco, California, and working in a local Pomona nursing home. She loved to sew and garden. Back home in Texas, Inda and Sidney opened a small boutique in Collinsville, where she sold homemade sewn items and an array of knick-knacks. Inda was a member of the Concord Church of Christ.
After 30 years in California, upon retiring, Inda and Sidney returned to Whitesboro, Texas, where she lived until her death.
Inda was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil J. and Carrie A. Ranne; her husband, Sidney, and son, Gene Kent Young. - - - Meador Funeral Home
