Whitesboro Jackie Kay Van Bevers, 73, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016, in Sunnyvale, Texas. She was born April 22, 1943, daughter of the late Jack and Inez (Midgett) Smith in Collinsville, Texas, the oldest of five children. She graduated from Whitesboro High School as Salutatorian in 1961 and attended Draughon's Business College in Dallas. She married John Van Bevers in Whitesboro on June 10, 1962. They lived in Mesquite. Jackie began her career with Lab Corp in 1980, retiring in 2005. For over a decade she served as a volunteer in the Camp Fire Girls Organization as group leader and council member. She is survived by her husband; daughters, Lisa Rose and husband Rick of Gladewater, Texas, and Gretchen Carter of Forney, Texas; sons, David Van Bevers and wife Priscilla of Mesquite and Daryl Van Bevers of Watauga, Texas; grandchildren, Shawn Gregory, Lana Rose Davis and husband Joshua, Jacob Rose, Evan (Martin) and Haylie Carter, Douglas Van Bevers, Katarina and Andrew Savignano and Samantha Van Bevers; great-grandchildren, Landon and Allie Gregory, Henry Davis and Emma Van Bevers; brothers, Danny and wife Donna, Jimmy and wife Virginia, and Larry and wife Teresa; sister, Annette Workman and husband Gary; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; sister Teresa Smith and great-granddaughter, Ainsley Davis. Graveside services were held Thursday, August 4 at Oakwood Cemetery. Mesquite - Graveside services for John Douglas 'Doug" Van Bevers, 83, of Mesquite, Texas were held Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Oakwood Cemetery with Dr. Boyd Sawyer officiating. John was born February 24, 1935 in Blue Ridge, Texas to Hode and Mary Van Bevers. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army as an MP. He married Jackie Kay Smith in June 1962. They were married for 54 years until her death in 2016. Together they raised 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. John earned an Associate Degree from Eastland College in refrigeration and air conditioning. He retired from Norwich Pharmaceutical as a custodian and then again from Car-Quest as a delivery driver. John loved coaching little league baseball and playing 42. He enjoyed listening to news radio. One of his favorite things to do was to look for bargains at garage sales. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Rose and husband, Rick; daughter, Gretchen Carter; son, David Van Bevers and wife, Priscilla; son, Daryl Van Bevers; grandchildren, Shawn and Nicole Gregory; Lana and Josh Davis; Evan and Martin Carter; Douglas Van Bevers and Erin Crow, Jacob Rose, Haylie Carter, Samantha Van Bevers, and Chris Marsh, Katerina Savignano and Andrew Savignano; great-grandchildren, Landon Gregory, Allison Gregory, Henry Davis, Emma Van Bevers; and two sisters, Billie Webb and Shirley Aven. Pallbearers were grandsons. John was preceded in death by his wife; parents; great-granddaughter, Ainsley Davis; siblings, Edith Parks, Joe Van Bevers, Vattera Bunch, Opal Harlen, Mary Press and Buck "Loyd" Van Bevers.
