The Herald Democrat May 29, 2012 ARLINGTON – Funeral services for Maxine Cunningham, 95, were held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, with Rev. Mike Flanagan and Rev. Kevin Henry officiating. Interment followed the service at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. She passed away on May 24, 2012, in Arlington. Maxine was born on June 11, 1916, to John Q. and Dora (Douglas) Eldredge in Sadler. She married George Wayne Cunningham in 1936. They were married for 57 years until his passing in 1993. Maxine lived a very simple lifestyle. She loved her family and was a very devoted wife. She enjoyed a special relationship with her sisters. When asked what her hobbies were, she always said, "Cleaning house. It's fun to me!" She took pride in taking care of her home. She also loved flowers. She had always been an active church member until she became homebound. She loved the Word of God and continued to deepen her faith even when she could no longer attend church services. She is survived by her sister, Geraldine Phillips of Arlington, Texas; nephew, Joe Cobler and wife, Elaine; niece: Sara Sledge and husband, Fred, and daughters: Susan Smith and husband, David; Carolyn Robertson and husband, Wilton; and niece: Dora Lee Plexco; cousins: James Ira Ginnings and family; great-nephews: Steven Scarbrough and wife, Raejean; Byron Cobler Watson and wife, Macey, and daughter Allison Watson; special loved ones: Helen Henry and family, Pam and Richard Kanaly, Jimmie Tom McDonnell, Celia Laurie, Sharon Watson, Ellen Bolden, Margaret Young, Hulena Clounch, Frances Hawkins, Jason Scarbrough and wife, April; Sara Maulsby and husband, Jess; Tilisia Kelly, Debbie Blakeman, Ginger Neville; Paul and Brenda Morris; Chris and Linda Beck; Dee and Joey Mackey; and volunteer coordinator, Diane. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Cunningham; her parents, John and Dora Eldredge; sisters: Junita West, Odessa Plexco and Lorena Cobler; and her brother, J.O. Eldredge. Pallbearers were Joe B. Cobler, James Ira Jennings, Byron Watson, Fred Sledge, Ray Shepherd, and Henry Shoopman. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmie Tom McDonnell, Chaplain Paul Reedy, David Cunningham, Matt McEntire and Hospice helper, Thomas.
