Wednesday, May 18, 1938 pg. 5 BROTHER CORSICANA MAN BURIED TODAY AT WHITESBORO Sheramn, May 18 - Z.B. McCarver, age 70 years, died at his home in Whitesboro and the funeral was held at the Whitesboro Methodist church Wednesday afternoon. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery at Whitesboro. Mr. McCarver retired four years ago after being Whitesboro manager for the North Texas Telephone Company for 28 years. A native of Hot Springs, he came to Texas in 1899 and located near Huntsville, where he worked for a telephone company for four years. He helped to build the first long-distance telephone line into Whitesboro. After being resident manager in Denison three years, he went to Whitesboro as manager. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. R.L. Sloan, Whitesboro, and Miss Ruby McCarver, Dallas; a son, Willard McCarver, Dallas; a sister, Mrs. Maud Hobbs, El Paso, and a half-brother, Ed McCarver, Corsicana.
