Whitesboro John E. Abney 1866 - 1907 John E. Abney Drops Dead Well-Known Farmer and Stockman Dies at Denison Special to The News Denison, Tex., Sept 17 - John E. Abney, 40, a well-known farmer and stockman living 2 miles west of Denison, dropped dead last night at 9:30 at the home of his brother, P.C. Abney, in this city, from acute indigestion and heart disease. Mr. Abney and his family drove to the farm yesterday, and on the return to the city last night, he complained of indigestion. On arrival at the home of his brother, while taking the harness from the team, Mr. Abney was stricken and fell to the ground. He was carried into the house and a physician was summoned, but death came before the doctor arrived. Mr. Abney is survived by his wife, 2 small daughters and 2 brothers, Perry C. Abney of Denison and Hamp P. Abney of Sherman. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at Whitesboro.
