Mrs. Davis' Brother Killed in Auto Wreck
The entire community is in deep sympathy with Mrs. E.E. Davis in the loss of her brother, J.C. Higgins, at Amarillo Thursday.  Mr. Higgins was in an auto wreck, the car in which he was riding collided with a truck, causing such injuries that he died a few hours afterwards.
J.C. Higgins was only 29 years of age and had a bright future.  He was an employee of the Oil and Gas Co., being in the tax and claims department, and had been promoted from time to time and was soon due another.
Funeral services were conducted at Amarillo Saturday afternoon and his body was laid to rest in Whitesboro cemetery Sunday afternoon.  Dean and Mrs. E.E. Davis attended the funeral.

The funeral services of J.C. (Cluck) Higgins, who was fatally injured in an automobile accident near Panhandle, Texas, January 1, were held Sunday afternoon, January 4 at the family residence, Rev. E.T. Smith, pastor of the Baptist church, officiated.
Cluck was born at Reagan, Texas July 31, 1900 and came with his parents to Whitesboro at an early age.  He received his education in the Whitesboro High School and A. & M. College and was an active member of the Baptist church and Masonic Lodge of this place.
At the time of his death he was an employee of the Prairie Oil and Gas Co. of Amarillo, working in the tax and claims department.
Cluck was well known in Whitesboro and commanded the respect and esteem of everyone in the community.
Active pallbearers were: Ches Estes, Marvin Standifer, David Gordon, Grady Hodges, W.N. Wells, and G.C. Meek.
He is survived by his mother and two sisters, Misses Lela and Edine, of Whitesboro; Miss Xena Higgins of Dallas; Mrs. E.E. Davis of Arlington; R.A. Higgins of Houston; W.P. Higgins of New York City, F.C. Higgins of Amarillo and J.H. Higgins of Gunter.
Out-of-town friends and relatives present were: Miss Xena Higgins of Dallas; Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Higgins of Gunter; F.C. Higgins of Amarillo; W.P. Higgins of New York City; Dean and Mrs. E.E. Davis of Arlington; Mrs. Alice Hollman, J.S. Millerman and Bob Holloway of Corsicana; E.F. Reynolds and D.F. Robinson of the Prairie Oil & Gas Co. of Amarillo; Dean and Mrs. Geo. L. Dickey and Miss Irene Lipscomb of Arlington; Mr. and Mrs.  E.A. Miller of Sherman; Mr. and Mrs.  Marvin Standifer of Amarillo; Mr. and Mrs. Asburn of Sherman and Ralph Welch of Seattle, Washington.
Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery, the Masons being in charge of the service there.

Miss Xena Higgins of Dallas, F.C. Higgins of Amarillo and W.D. Higgins of New York City were guests of their sister, Mrs. E.E. Davis, enroute to their homes after attending the funeral of their brother, J.C. Higgins, last Sunday at Whitesboro.
