Whitesboro James Ellis West, III 13 November 1956 - 6 November 1983 PV2 US Army The Sherman Herald November 7, 1983 pg.A-21 SHERMAN DIES IN CRASH Nocona - A 26-year-old Sherman cattleman was fatally injured in a head-on collision near Nocona, Texas Sunday afternoon according to a Nocona ambulance service. James Ellis West of 1035 Patricia St. died at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman Sunday night shortly after he was transferred to Sherman from Nocona. Services for Mr. West were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Whitesboro. Rev. Harold Watson of the church officiated and burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, directed by Huff Funeral Home. Mr. West was born in Sherman November13, 1956, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ellis West, II. He married Sandra Robson April 29, 1983 in Whitesboro. West was a cattleman and a member of the First Baptist Church in Whitesboro, the Southwest Brangus Association and the National Rifle Association. Surviving are his wife; daughter, Ashley West of of Sherman; father of Gainesville; mother, Mrs. Billy Gleaves of Denison; sister, Lisa Fails of Collinsville; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis West of Whitesboro.
