Tamplen was born March 11, 1900 in Grayson County, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tamplen. He married Edith May Adams March 10, 1973 in Collinsville. He was a veteran of World War I and a retired farmer. Survivors are his wife; son, Elmer Tamplen; brothers, Oliver, Ossie and Clyde Tamplen; sister, Velma Johnson; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several step-children and step-grandchildren.
