Thursday, October 17, 1940 pg. 1 32 YEAR OLD WHITESBORO MAYOR KILLED Whitesboro, Texas, October 17 - The death of Mayor Suddath, Jr. of Whitesboro in a Sherman hospital at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday was the second to result from an automobile accident Tuesday night when the car crashed into a bridge abutment on Hwy. 82 east of her and over turned in a ravine. Killed outright was Harry Edward Sadler, 36, of Whitesboro, an employe of the Guy F. Atkinson company on the Denison dam project. The two were in Mr. Suddath's car headed west, when it went out of control at Mustang creek. Mr. Sadler's watch stopped at 9 o'clock. Mr. Suddath received head and chest injuries and never regained consciousness. Mr. Suddath, was was 32 years old when he was elected mayor of Whitesboro about 4 years ago, was termed Texas' youngest mayor at the time. A son of Mr. and Mrs. O.O. Suddath of Whitesboro, he was born June 22, 1904 in Bonham. He had resided at Whitesboro since he was a small boy with the exception of a few years spent in New York City.
