Whitesboro Mary E. Cox 23 February 1921 - 26 February 2012 Loyd W. Cox 5 April 1920 - 22 July 1983 Borger News Herald July 24, 1983 Services for former Borger resident, L.W. "Bill" Cox, were held Monday at Huff Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas. Cox died Friday night at Whitesboro. He was a member of the St. Andrews United Methodist Church and was a past exalted ruler of the Borger Elks Lodge. He was retired from Phillips Petroleum Co. Copolymer Plant. Survivors include his wife, Betty; three children, Kathy McClellen, Borger; Tom Cox, Borger; and John C. Cox, of Whitesboro; and seven grandchildren. Whitesboro - Funeral services for Betty Cox Perkins, 91, were held Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Ken Hildebrand officiating. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Mary Elizabeth "Betty" was born February 23, 1921 in Harrison, Arkansas to John Eldridge and Billie Stephens Connell. She married Loyd W. Cox on August 10, 1941 in Wichita, Kansas. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro and the Asbury Sunday School class. Betty loved to dance, was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She was also a member of the Whitesboro History Club and Class Room Teacher Association. Survivors include her children: Chuck Cox and wife, Susan Vardell of Whitesboro; Tom Cox and wife, Mary, of Fritch; and Kathy McClellan of Houston; eleven grandchildren, John Cox, Jr.; Christi Strange; Mike Cox; Casey Zboril; Leah Shoberg; Lynde Price; Derek Cox; Dixie Wilson; Lacey Cox; Jay McClellan; and Matt McClellan; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Robert Connell of Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Charlie Cox; and her two husbands, Loyd Cox and Jim Perkins.
