Whitesboro News Record January 28, 1949 Page 1 Newton Ellis West, 71, long time resident of the Westview community, died Sunday at 8:45 p.m. in St. Vincent hospital, Sherman, where he had undergone surgery several days ago. He is said to have responded satisfactorily for sometime following the operation but became critically ill last week. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Whitesboro Methodist Church. Mr. West was a member of the Westview Church. His pastor, Rev. C.J. Graves of Sherman officiated. Rev. W.H. Vail, Whitesboro pastor, assisted. Interment was in the Whitesboro cemetery under the direction of Richards-Beck Funeral Home. Pall bearers were Chas. Allen, Bill Boaz, Frank Bass, Houston Boaz, Bill Buchanan and George West. Born September 4, 1877 in Illinois, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George West. He was married November 23, 1898 to Miss Mary Alice Stalcup in Whitesboro. Her death occurred in 1936. Survivors include one daughter, Miss Aleta Bell West, who made her home with her father; and three sons, Charlie, Bill and Ellis West, all of Whitesboro. A-6 Whitesboro - Services for Miss Aleta Bell West, 87 year old retired seamstress who died Sunday at Gainesville Memorial Hospital, were held Tuesday in Whitesboro Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tom Peel, Methodist minister, officiated and burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. Miss West was born February 4, 1902 in Cooke County, daughter of Newton Ellis and Mary Alice West. She was a member of Westview Methodist Church and a former member of the Fairview Home Demonstration Club, Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodge. Survivors are her brother, William Luther West of Denison; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Chris Clark, Curtis Clark, Casey McCorkle, Mitchell McCorkle, Vince West, Dax West and Jody West. Juanita Mae West 25 June 1910 - 14 November 1993 W.L.
