Whitesboro Ruby Bell Walker Hancock 26 October 1914 - 3 September 2008 The Oklahoman September 5, 2008 Graveside services for Ruby B. Hancock, 93-year-old former Oklahoma City resident, were held Monday, September 8, 2008 in Oakwood Cemetery Annex in Whitesboro, Texas under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford, Oklahoma. Ruby was born October 26, 1914 in Grayson County, Texas, daughter of William Arch and Sarah Lesser Walker and went home on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 in Corn Heritage Village of Weatherford and had been a resident of the Sterling House for 2-1/2 years. Ruby was raised and attended school in Whitesboro, Texas. In 1939 she married Don Hancock in Las Vegas, Nevada and made their home in California and later moved to Tyler, Texas. In 1951 they moved to Oklahoma City where she worked as a hostess for Glenn's Steak House for 26 years and Duane's BBQ for 10 years. She voluteered for the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce. Memorial may be made to Zion Church, Russell-Murray Hospice in lieu of flowers. Ruby is survived by one daughter, Yolanda Hamburger and husband, Arlie, of Weatherford, Oklahoma; one step-son, Juan Hernandez and wife, Anne, of Sacramento, California; one brother, Jr. Wade Walker and wife, Johnnie, of Garland; one sister, Louise Adair of Hutchison, Kansas; sister-in-law, Marie Walker of Whitesboro; 8 grancdhildren: Cindy Beard and husband, Tim, of Alpharetta, Georgie; Gayleen Cook and Richard Justice of Weatherford, Oklahoma; Leon Lacy and wife, Emily, of Blanchard, Oklahoma; 5 step-grandchildren in California; 6 great-grandchildren - Zak and Lauren Beard; Ray Buckly, Shelbi Cook, Brad Lacy, and Brooke Smith; 6 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six brothers, Lawson, Jewell, Melvin, Claude, Ray and Perry; and one sister, Pearl.
