Hammond 21 November 1906 - 21 June 1980 Gainesville Daily Register Sunday, June 22, 1980 Jimmie Andrew Hammond, 73, died Saturday in Sherman. He was born November 23, 1906 [sic] in Whitesboro, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Arthur Hammond. He married Bessie Inez Pierce June 25, 1943 in Orange. He worked in the dry cleaning business and was a member of the Pentecostal church in Whitesboro. He is survived by his wife; one son, James Arthur; 4 daughters, Betty Arnold of Bridge City; Ellie Ruth of Kernes; Brenda Lindsey of Whitesboro; and Beverly Force of Orange; 3 brothers, Johnny of Merkel; Woody and Dan of El Paso; 3 sisters, Evelyn Anderson of Pollok; Ruth Smith of Wells; and Bertha Cowander of El Paso; and 12 grandchildren.
