Artie Mae Wright 23 December 1903 - 13 March 1980 Sherman Democrat 20 March 1980 Page 15 Graveside services for Mrs. Artie Mae Wright, 77-year-old housewife, of 509 N. Music St., who died Friday at a Sherman Hospital were held Tuesday at Whiterock Cemetery. The Rev. W. E. McGruder of the Progressive Baptist Church officiated with arrangements by Boyd and Smith Mortuary. Mrs. Wright was born in Austin and attended Austin Schools. She had been a resident of Sherman for 31 years and was married to the late Johnnie Wright. She was a member of the Progressive Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Johnnie L. Wright of Sherman; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Johnie L. Wright 18 October 1941 - 9 January 2003 US Air Force Vietnam Mae Lou Wright was born September 10, 1936 and went home on August 27, 2019. Mae was born in Kentuckytown, Texas, daughter of Pecola and T. Roosevelt Jackson and was one of 14 children. Mae worked as a CNA, housekeeping and cafeteria worker. She was an elder in her church and the matriarch of the Jackson family for many years before her passing. Mae was preceded in death by: Quinton Jackson, son; Johnie Wright, husband; Cathi Jackson, daughter. Surviving family are children: Arlene Hill and husband, Ralph; Rosaline Holt and husband, Ralph; Pamela Hunter; Lester Hunter; Stephanie Hunter; Dezell Scott; Nicole Wright; and Erik Jackson. Mae had 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, as well as all the additional "family" Mae touched and helped along her way. The Homecoming Celebration was held Saturday morning, September 7, 2019 in the Whiterock Missionary Baptist Church, Whiterock Community, Texas. Rev. Roger Jackson was the Host Pastor and Rev. C.W. King delivered the eulogy. Burial followed in Whiterock Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of James E.
