Andrew J. Harris 1874 - 1947 White Mound - Andrew J. Harris, 78 year old resident of White Mound, died at 7:50 this morning at his home (February 4, 1947).
Funeral services are pending the arrival of his son, Roy W. Harris, of Los Angeles. Burial will be in the White Mound cemetery under the direction of the Waldo Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by Rev. Claude Johnson, pastor of the North Park Baptist Church in Sherman. Harris was born January 12, 1874 in Hood county, Texas, where the town of Lipan now stands. His father gave the land to the town of Lipan. He moved to Grayson county in 1882 where he stayed until 1902, when he moved to Oklahoma. In 1902, Harris married Miss Mary Mildred Crabtree in Coalgate, Oklahoma. Mrs. Harris died in 1925. Harris returned to Grayson county in 1910, where he had resided since. He had been a member of the Baptist Church since 1909 and had been prominent in local church affairs. Survivors include one daughter, Miss Lucy Harris of White Mound: five sons, Andrew, Paul, and Fielder Harris of White Mound; Monroe Harris of Fort Worth, and Roy W. Dallas Morning News November 29, 1977 Pg. 4 Tom Bean, Texas - Funeral services for Lucy Ann Harris, 75, of Tom Bean, Gra yson County, who had lived in Tom Bean since 1911, were held Tuesday afternoon in Tom Bean First United Methodist Church. Burial was in White Mound Cemetery, near Tom Bean. She died Sunday in a Sherman Hospital. A practical nurse until her retirement, she was a member of Tom Bean First United Methodist Church. "Funeral services for Roy W. Harris, 55, will be held at 3 pm Tuesday from the Waldo Funeral Chapel, conducted by Rev. Ralph E. Burke, pastor of the Tom Bean Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Whitemound Cemetery, directed by Waldo Funeral Home. Mr. Harris died in a Santa Monica, CA hospital on March 18. He was born on July 2, 1911 in Luella, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Harris, Jr. He moved to Los Angeles in 1941 and for many years was associated with North American Aviation. At the time of his death, he lived in the Canoga Park area of Los Angeles. The body will arrive in Sherman early Tuesday morning but the family plans to be at the Waldo Funeral Home from 7-8 pm Monday. Jerry Harris, Dan Harris, Alan Harris, Phillip Harris, RC McAfee, and Spurgeon Brannum will serve as pallbearers. Survivors are one son, RW Harris (Brown) of Dallas, four brothers, Andrew Harris of Muskogee, OK., Monroe Harris of Ft. Worth, Fielder Harris of Tom Bean, and Paul Harris of Sherman; one sister, Lucy Harris, of Tom Bean; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews."
