Betty Ann Harris was born October 5, 1933 in Dallas, Texas to William Andrew Shrode and Willie Pearl Smith Shrode.  Betty passed away on October 29, 2018 in Tom Bean, Texas.  Memorial services were held at Tom Bean Church of Christ on November 3, 2018 under the direction of Wald Funeral Home of Sherman.  A.C. Quinn and Kerry King officiated.
Betty met the love of her life, Jerry Harris, while working at Southland Life in Dallas.  They were married at the home of their preacher on November 8, 1952 in Dallas.  When their children were born, Betty stayed home as a homemaker. She was a long time member of the Church of Christ and very active in the Ladies class at the Tom Bean church.  Betty was soft spoken, loved to sing and loved her family.
Betty is survived by her husband of 65 years; children, Ricky and wife, Charlene; Becky Belt and husband, Gary; and Debbie Perdue and husband, Don; seven grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sally Ribble.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Billy Shrode; twin brother, Bob Shrode; sister, Doris Loden; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
A private burial was held in the Whitemound Cemetery.

Tom Bean - Gerald Ray "Jerry" Harris of Tom Bean, Texas passed away on January 20, 2022 in Denison, Texas at the age of 89.
Jerry was born on July 23, 1932 in Howe, Texas, the oldest of 6 children, son of Fielder and Jewel Dean Harris.  Jerry graduated from Tom Bean High School and soon moved to Dallas, Texas.  While working at Southland Life Insurance, he met the love of his life, Betty Shrode.   They married on November 8, 1952, and remained together until Betty's death in 2018.  Jerry served in the Army from January 1953 until December 1954, earning the rank of Corporal before his discharge.   Jerry eventually landed at Texas Instruments, working in many assignments associated with Data Processing.  He took night classes at SMU in Dallas, and he took new equipment and programming classes through IBM schools.  Jerry was with Texas Instruments until his retirement in October 1985.  Jerry and Betty moved back to town where he grew up and became active with the Tom Bean Chamber of Commerce where he served as term as President.  He also served several years on the City Council.
Jerry was an active member of the Tom Bean Church of Christ where he served as an Elder for many years. When Betty had a stroke in  April 1914, Jerry became her caregiver and spent the next four and a half years making sure his "Sweetie" was taken care of.  After her passing, Jerry enjoyed going to Sherman or Whitewright daily to eat at his favorite places, especially IHOP.  He made friends with the wait staff to the point they knew his order without saying a word.
Jerry is survived by his children, Ricky Harris and wife, Charlene, of Copeville, Texas; Betty Belt and husband, Gary, of Lubbock, Texas; Debbie Perdue and husband, Don, of Sherman; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren with another one due in May; and 3 sisters-in-law.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Jack, Dan, Alan and Phil; his sister, Brenda Scales; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
A Memorial was held Friday afternoon, January 28, 2022 at the Tom Bean Church of Christ.  A brief military ceremony took place at the White Mound Cemetery following the services.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tom Bean Church of Christ, White Mound Cemetery, or a charity of your choice.
