Elizabeth Ireland 1856 - 1939 Peter D. Ireland 1848 - 1893 The Whitewright Sun Thursday, October 19, 1939 pg. 5 Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Tom Bean Methodist Church for Mrs. Elizabeth Ireland, who died Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. H.O. Miller. The service was conducted by Rev. Woodrow Adcock of Howe, assisted by the Rev. C. Chumbley of Howe. Interment was made in the Whitemound Cemetery, west of Tom Bean. Mrs. Ireland was born July 18, 1856 in Upton, Kentucky, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wells. She came to Texas in 1884 from Upton, and settled near Whitewright where she had lived since. She had been an invalid 13 years. Mrs. Ireland had been a member of the Methodist Church 67 years. She had made her home with her granddaughter for six years. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. J.H. Burkett of Tom Bean and Mrs. Ben Shaw of Van Alstyne; two sons, Tom B. Ireland of Denison and W.I. Ireland of Bailey; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Jones of Madill, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Birdie Caswell of Louisville, Kentucky;16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
