SCOTT, RESIDENT OF TEXAS 75 YEARS, IS DEAD (Special to The News) Sherman, Texas, June 25 - Death claimed one of the oldest citizens of Grayson County, both in age and years of residence, with the passing of James Wesley Scott, for seventy-five years a farmer in the Pink Hill community, near Bells, at 3 o'clock Wednesday morning. Mr. Scott, a native of Limestone County, Alabama, came to this county in 1849 and settled on the farm near Bells which he owned at the time of his death. He was born Oct. 13, 1827, and was just a few months under 97 years of age when he died. Mr. Scott was married to his first wife the same year that he moved from Alabama into Grayson County. He is survived by six children, three of whom are by his present wife, Mrs. Sarah Scott, who survives. The children are: James W. Scott and Mrs. Ella Prince, of the Pink Hill community; Mrs. Bessie Mauldin of Amarillo; R.B. Scott of Collinsville; Mrs. D.H. Washburn of Pink Hill; and M.J.M. Scott of Hoyt. Funeral services will be held from the church at Pink Hill Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. J.O. Henderson. The services at the grave in Washburn Cemetery will be under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge at Bells, of which deceased had long been a member.
