Edna Mayo 22 August 1908 - 3 August 1909 Robert Valentine Mayo 14 March 1873 - 11 March 1912 Wichita Weekly Times March 15, 1912 TWO WHITEWRIGHT MEN ELECTROCUTED Live Wire Charges Clothes Line, Killing Ira Davis and Bob Mayo Whitewright, Texas, March 12. - A live wire that had fallen across a clothes line caused the death of two men here yesterday evening at 7:40 o'clock. Ira Davis, a telephone line man, and Bob Mayo, a carpenter, were electrocuted within a few seconds of each other. The accidents occurred in the back yard of Ira Davis. Mrs. Davis, wife of one of the dead men, was severely shocked while attempting to free her husband from the wire that killed him and but for the efforts of Postmaster Lon Davis, she, perhaps, would have met death in the same manner as did her husband. No one saw Mr. Davis come in contact with the wire, but his shouts attracted others near by, among them Mr. Mayo, who was on his own premises more than fifty feet away. It was while the latter was making a dash to render assistance to the lineman that he met his own death, though at a point several steps away from Mr. Davis when he touched the wire. Wind, it is thought, caused a hanging wire to come in contact with that in the yard. Mr. Davis leaves a widow and one child. A widow and two children survive Mr. Mayo. Up to a late hour no arrangements have been made for the funerals, though both bodies will probably be buried late today.
