Sarah Jane Janway 1880 - 1954 Preston Isaac Janway 1866 - 1940 The Whitewright Sun Thursday, February 22, 1923 pg. 5 Mrs. Katherine Wilson, aged 77, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. Janway, Monday, following a long period of illness. She had made her home with her daughter here for the last 8 years. She was born in Arkansas on August 30, 1846 and spent most of her life in that State. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Baptist Church. The funeral service was held at the City Cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and was conducted by Rev. G.M. McNeilly, pastor of the First Baptist Church. The deceased is survived by her daughter here; and two sons who reside in Oklahoma. Friday, October 31, 1940 pg. 5 Funeral services for Preston Isaac Janway, 74, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. E.P. Wootten, pastor. Burial was in the City Cemetery. Pallbearers were W.B. Head, Lee Norris, J.E. Morgan, Roy Blanton, Cloy Horton and Lee Wilson. Mr. Janway died at his home here at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday after an illness of only a few days. He had been in ill health for several years. Born October 14, 1866 in Scott County, Arkansas, Mr. Janway was the son of Rev. William Janway, Baptist minister of Gravely, Arkansas, and Mrs. Janway. In 1866 he united with the Baptist Church at Gravely. Later he moved to Oklahoma where he resided for several years and th en moved to Denison, Texas, w here on October 12, 1913, he was married to Mrs. Sarah Jane Pryor. They came to Whitewright two years later, where Mr. Janway followed the trade of blacksmithing. He joined the Baptist Church here in 1927 and was an active member until recent years when ill health prevented his attendance. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Noble Bennett and Mrs. C.B. Barlow of Whitewright; a son, William Janway of the U.S. Navy, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; a step-daughter, Miss Mary Pryor of Wichita Falls; and sev en da ughters and four sons, including Bonnie Janway of Whitewright, by a former marriage. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
