The Whitewright Sun Thursday, September 21, 1950 pg.1 DEATHS Funeral services for Mrs. J.W. Heflin, 57, were held at the First Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Fred Thomas, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Trenton. Burial in the City Cemetery under the direction of Earnheart Funeral Service. Pallbearers were James Cain, Aubrey Page, Ellis Harvey, Fritz Harvey, Richard Johnson and W.C. Caraway. Mrs. Heflin died in a Sherman hospital at 6:30 p.m. Monday following a brief illness. Born November 28, 1892 in Hopkins County, Texas, Mrs. Heflin was the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Bartlett. She was married to J.W. Heflin on November 7, 1908 in Paris, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Honey Grove. Survivors include her husband; 3 daughters, Mrs. Lillian Page, Whitewright; Mrs. Ollie Johnson, Grand Prairie; and Mrs. Helen Harvey, Pampa; 2 brothers, Frank Bartlett, Honey Grove and Ollie Bartlett, Denison; 2 half-brothers, Joe and Henry Townsend of Paris; and 11 grandchildren. Hill, 90, retired farmer, who passed away Tuesday, will be held Thursday afternoon in the Earnheart Chapel. Services will be conducted by Rev. Danny Wood of East Baptist Church in Denison. Burial will be in Whitewright City Cemetery. Mr. Heflin was born February 15, [sic] 1884 at Batesville, Arkansas. He married Miss Dessie Bartlett November 27, 1908 in Paris, Texas. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs. Lillian Page of Whitewright; Mrs. Ollie Johnson of Grand Prairie; and Mrs. Helen Newcomer of Malakoff, Texas; 11 grandchldren and 22 great-grandchildren.
