May 20, 1888 pg.14 Whitewright, Tex., May 19 - Died on Thursday, Lillie, the 8-year-old daughter of Martha and James Hartly [sic]. The child got up in the morning as well as usual; she was taken sick at about 9 o'clock and died at 11:55 a.m. The attending physician pronounced the disease congestion of the brain.
