May Badgett 1891 - 1981 Myrtle Badgett 1871 - 1952 The Whitewright Sun Thursday, November 27, 1952 pg. 1 Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Earnheart chapel for Miss Myrtle Badgett, 81, who died at her home here at 4:250 Tuesday after a long illness. Rev. James L. Cooper, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will conduct the funeral and burial will be in the City Cemetery. Active pallbearers named are Carl May, G.C. Stuteville, Paul Stephens, Cloy Horton, B.W. Newman, and Joe Johnson. Miss Badgett was born August 18, 1871 in Kentucky, the daughter of S.H. and Virginia Badgett. She came to Texas with her parents as a child. For many years she operated a milliery store here, and prior to entering business for herself she was employed in other retail establishments. She was a member of the Baptist church. Surviving are three brothers, Floyd Badgett of Whitewright, W.D. Badgett of Van Buren, Arkansas, and A.R. Badgett of Guthrie, Oklahoma; two sisters, Miss May Badgett of Whitewright and Mrs. C.K. Spinkle of Denison, and several nieces and nephews.
