Pina Vestal 1881 - 1973 John T. Vestal 1872 - 1945 The Whitewright Sun Thursday, May 17, 1945 pg. 1 John T. Vestal, Prominent Farmer, Dies Suddenly Funeral services for John T. Vestal, who died of a heart attack at his home southeast of Whitewright at 7 p.m. Monday, were held at 4 p.m.Tuesday at the Central Christian Church. The services were conducted by Rev. A.L. Clinkenbeard of Dallas, assisted by Rev. LeRoy Anderson of Denison. Interment was in the City Cemetery, directed by Glen Earnheart. Active pallbearers were J.E. Mangrum, W.E. LaRoe, Gomer May, W.J. Barbee, Haskell Scott and Ralph Brown. Mr. Vestal was a native of the Whitewright section. He was born December 3, 1872, in the Medlintown community, southeast of Whitewright, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George T. Vestal. He was married to Miss Pina Dickenson at Melissa on December 31, 1907. He was a granduate of the old Grayson College and taught school for several years following his graduation. Since that time he had engaged in farming. Mr. Vestal was one of the best known citizens of this section and was held in high esteem by everyone. He was an active member of the Central Christian Church and was a member of the official board. Surviving are his wife; a son, Clyde T. Vestal, with the Army in the Phillipines; a daughters, Mrs. D.W. Smith of Leonard; five sisters, Mrs. A.E. Valentine of Trenton; Mrs. G.W. McDaniel of Texoma, Oklahoma; Mrs. Ed Deaton, Mrs. Harry Brown and Mrs. Alton Brown, all of Whitewright; a brother, W.R. Vestal of Whitewright; and a grandson, Jerry Lewis Smith of Leonard. Van R.
