The Whitewright Sun .Thursday, March 5, 1942 pg.5 Funeral services for Rufus Edgar Taylor, 57, were held at the Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by Rev. E.P. Wootten, pastor, and Rev. W.W. Adcock, Methodist minister. Burial was in the City Cemetery, under the direction of Earnheart. Pallbearers were Luther Gordon, Dolten Hill, John Reeves, N.E. Skaggs, Cull Reeves and W.M. Gates. Mr. Taylor died at his home here at 11:40 Monday, about an hour after he suffered a heart attack while working with a Cotton Belt section crew at the depot. He became ill an d was taken to his home by J.A. Bixler, Cotton Belt agent. Born August 24, 1884, in Kentucky, Mr. Taylor came to Texas with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Taylor, in 1890. He married Miss Nellie Clark of Whitewright, June 16, 1907. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are the widow; four sons, Edgar, Wilburn, Ervin and John Rufus Taylor, all of Whitewright; three daughters, Mrs. Ruby Davis, Whitewright; Mrs. Ru th Todd, Palm Springs, California; and Mrs. Myrtle Hodge, Dallas; four brothers, Roy Taylor, Telephone; Walter Taylor, Wewoka, Oklahoma; Elzie Taylor, Whitewright; and Harve Taylor, Greenville; four sisters, Mrs. Maude McCurdy and Mrs. Estor Love, Whitewright; Mrs. Bertha Ferguson and Mrs. E loyse Clement, Long Beach California. His father; 10 grandchildren and two step-children also survive.
