Jackie
Lee Thompson was born June 7, 1924 at Whitewright, Texas to Claude
Thompson and Mary Ella Guinn Thompson. He died Saturday, October 16,
2010 at the age of 86 at Mullican Care Center in Savoy, Texas. He is
survived by son, Terry Thompson and wife Glenda of Pflugerville;
grandson, Jeffrey Thompson and wife Stella of Bear, Delaware; and their
children, Sebastian, Shelby and Jacklyn; grandson, Stephen Thompson and
Evette Alvarado of Austin, and their daughter Mara; numerous nieces and
nephews; He was preceded in death by parents; brother T.G. Thompson;
and son Jackie Jr. Graveside Services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday,
October 21, 2010 at City Cemetery, Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the
service will be . Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at
their convenience on Thursday to pay their respects and to sign the
register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on
Thursday, October 21, 10:00am until service time at
Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Whitewright, Texas.
The Whitewright Sun Thursday, August 9, 1945 pg. 5 Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the First Baptist Church for Mrs. Leona Guinn, who died Tuesday at Vinita, Oklahoma. Services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. E.P. Wootten. Interment was at the City Cemetery under the direction of Glen Earnheart. Active pallbearers were O.T. Bartlett, R.D. Maddux, A.M. Drake, A.F. Biggerstaff, G.C. Brown, and Claud Head. Mrs. Guinn, who had made her home in Whitewright for many years was visiting a son in Vinita when she died. She suffered a stroke and died a short time after being stricken. She went to Vinita last Thursday. Mrs. Guinn was born March 12, 1871 in Clinton County, Kentucky, daughter of J.F. and Martha Thrasher. She was married to Jonathan Guinn in 1894. She had been a member of the Baptist Church since the age of 17. Mrs. Guinn is survived by 3 children, Clarence, Charley and George Guinn; 3 brothers, R.C. Thrasher of Whitewright, with whom she had made her home for the past several years; and Floyd and Walter Thrasher; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
