Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Ray Womack were held at the Central Christian Church Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, conducted by Rev. G.C. Minor.  Interment was in the City Cemetery.
Mrs. Womack died suddenly Sunday at Wayside Inn, Sudbury, Massachusetts, near Boston, where she and a friend had gone for lunch.  They were entering the dining room when Mrs. Womack was stricken with a heart attack.  The body was accompanied to Whitewright by her son, W.B. Womack, of Wyoming, Pennsylvania, who went to Sudbury immediately upon being informed of his mother's death.  The body arrived here Wednesday morning on the Texas Special and was taken to the family home, where it remained until time for the funeral services.  Mrs. Womack went to Boston from Memphis, Tennessee four weeks ago for a visit with friends.  She resided in Boston four years while her children were attending school there.  During that time she attended Leland-Powers School of the Spoken Word, and in 1926 graduated from the institution.  She also was a graduate of the West Tennessee State Teachers College of Memphis, and attended Peabody University at Nashville, Tennessee, doing work on a Master's degree.
Mrs. Womack was a member of a pioneer Whitewright family, being a daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. D.M. Ray.  Dr. Ray settled in Whitewright soon after the town was established and practiced medicine until his death some 20 years ago.  He was the first president of the First National Bank, and served in that capacity until he passed away.
Mrs. Womack was born and reared in Whitewright, and in her girlhood days accompanied her father on many of his professional calls.  Her cheerful  and friendly nature made her many friends on these visits, and at that time she probably knew more people in this section than anyone of her age.  She kept in contact with many of them by her frequent visits to her old home town.  She never forgot her friends and would go out of her way to be of service to them.  The unexpected news of her passing brought sorrow to scores of hearts in Whitewright, and other places w here she had resided.
Mrs. Womack is survived by her husband, R.M. Womack of Sulphur Springs; two sons, W.B. Womack of Wyoming, Pennsylvania; and Dr. David Ray Womack of New Orleans, Louisiana; a daughter, Mrs. M.L. Patton of Memphis, Tennessee; two grandsons, Michael Alfred Patton and David Ray Womack, Jr.; and two sisters, Misses Inez and Gladys Ray of Whitewright.  Dr. A.J. Ray of Whitewright is an uncle.  All members of the immediate family were here for the funeral service.
The floral offering was one of largest and most beautiful every seen here.
The active pallbearers were F.E. Douglas, Guy Hamilton, J.M. Simmons, A.M. Bryant, Dr. Ross R. May and R.A. Gillett.  Honorary pallbearers were Emmet Penn, H.T. Arterberry, L.O. Lackey, T.E. Barbee, J.H. Waggoner, C.W. Bryant, Sr., C.B. Bryant, Sr., and Dr. R. May.
The following were among the out-of-town friends of the family present at the services:
Mrs. John Carver, Mr. Shamburger, Mrs. W.B. Thomas, Mrs. Willie Ferguson, Mrs. Pink Holsonbake, Mrs. W.O. Womack, and Mrs. Martin and son, Robert, Dallas; Mrs. Sue McDonald and Mrs. Byron Pattie, Fort Worth; Mrs. J.D. McDonald, Rockwall; R.B. Caruthers, Mrs. E.F.
