Caylor 1867 - 1937 The Whitewright Sun Thursday, April 1, 1937 pg. 1 CAYLOR FUNERAL AT KENTUCKYTOWN TODAY Funeral services for William Walker Caylor, 69, are to be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Kentuckytown Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Cleophus Chumbley and Rev. J.A. Henderson. Burial will be in Vittitoe Cemetery, south of Kentuckytown, under direction of R.R. Waldo. Pallbearers are Ernest McCoy, W. Stephens, Lonnie Darwin, Henry Phillips, Jim Hardcastle, and Newell Skaggs. Mr. Caylor died at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday at his home southwest of Whitewright as a result of paralysis. He had been ill for more than three years. He was born April 10, 1867, at Aquone, North Carolina, the son of Thomas and Martha Caylor. He was married to Miss Martha Howard July 6, 1887, at Aquone. They came to Texas April 12, 1902, settling near Bells, later moving south of Whitewright, then to the community southwest of Whitewright where they had lived since 1920. Mr. Caylor had been a millwright and carpenter in early life, but had engaged in farming since coming to Texas. He had been a member of the Baptist Church since the age of twenty. Surviving are his wife; five sons, W.L. Caylor of Bonham; R.C. Caylor of Chicago; J.G. Caylor of Lockney, Drewie Caylor of Oklahoma City, and Paul Caylor of Whitewright; and four daughters, Mrs. Ben Savage and Mrs. J.P. Darwin of Whitewright; Mrs. R.L. Powell of Lockney and Mrs. Don Farmer of Dallas. Another son, Troy C. Caylor, died February 25, 1925. Caylor, were held at the Kentuckytown Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday. Officiating ministers were Rev. Cleophus Chumbley of Howe; Rev. J.A. Henderson of Pilot Grove and Rev. Leslie O. Evans of Whitewright. Interment was in Vittitoe Cemetery under the direction of R.R. Waldo. Pallbearers were Lonnie Darwin, D.E. McCoy, Jesse Blanks, Jesse Martin, Wayne Stephens and Jim Hardcastle. Mrs. Caylor died at 9:20 a.m. Friday, November 26, 1937 after an illness of over 2 years. She was born September 2, 1868 at Acquone, North Carolina, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Howard. She was married to William Walker Caylor at Acquone July 6, 1887, and to this union 4 daughters and 6 sons were born. The family came to Texas 35 years ago, and had made their home near Kentuckytown for 33 years. Mrs. Caylor had been a faithful member of the Baptist church for 54 years. She had many friends and was a friend and neighbor to all in her community. Surviving are 4 daughters, Mrs. Ben Savage and Mrs. Percy Darwin of Whitewright; Mrs. R.L. Powell of Floydada, and Mrs.Don Farmer of Dallas; 5 sons, W.L. Caylor of Ravenna; J.G. Caylor of Lockney; R.C. Caylor of Chicago, Illinois; T.D. Caylor of Oklahoma City; and Paul Caylor of Whitewright, all of whom were present for the funeral. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Among those from other places attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. L. Debenham; Mrs. W.L. Robbins; Mrs. Paul Robbins; Miss Alice Robbins, Greenville; Mrs. E.G. Robbins, Leonard; Mrs. C.S. Wilson, Dallas; Mr. and Mrs. Homer Tate, Van Alstyne; Mr. and Mrs. Wade Powell, Van Alstyne; Dutch Shields, Floyd; Mr. and Mrs. Homer Riel, Wolfe City; H. B. Forrest, Sherman; Mr. and Mrs. D. Powell, Tom Bean; Mrs. Burt Nordstrom, Oklahoma City; Mr. and Mrs. S. Henry and Mrs. Jim Moore, Woodville, Oklahoma.
