Burkett, 79, were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church. He died at 3:54 p.m. Thursday at his home. He was a retired farmer and stockman. Rev. Tommy Pesnell of Tom Bean and Rev. Don Howland of Duncan, Oklahoma officiated with burial in Vittitoe Cemetery under the direction of Earnheart Funeral Home. Mr. Burkett was born May 8, 1891 in Tom Bean, the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.F. Burkett. He married Gladys Ray Watson December 12, 1927 in Bonham. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife; three brothers, Earl Burkett and Eugene Burkett, both of Tom Bean; Luther Burkett of route 4, Sherman. Pallbearers were Craig Burkett, Wendell Chumbley, Charles Meek, Ralph Meek, Dee Burkett, and Mark Cutrell.
