The Whitewright Sun Thursday, May 10, 1974 pg. 6 Commodore Sutton, 89, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Sunday at Shady Oaks Rest home in Sherman. Services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Earnheart Funeral Chapel with Arne Gript, Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall, Sherman, officiating. Burial to be in Vittitoe cemetery at Kentuckytown. He was born May 7, 1884 in Hillham, Tennessee. He married Fannie Judd August 3, 1903, in Hillham, Tennessee. Mr. Sutton was a Jehovah Witness and a retired mail carrier. He came to Whitewright in 1910 from Tennessee. He owned and operated grocery stores in Ely and Kentuckytown communities. He moved to Woodward, Oklahoma, where he owned and operated a cafe. He moved back to Whitewright in 1945 and was a Post Office mail carrier until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of Shady Oaks rest home in Sherman; one daughter, Mrs. Earl Johnson of Whitewright; one nephew, Cecil Sutton of Bennington, Oklahoma; and 2 grandchildren. Mrs. Sutton died Thursday, April 11, in a Sherman nursing home. She was born January 29, 1885 in Putnam county, Tennessee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Judd. She married Commodore Sutton August 6, 1903 in Hillman, Tennessee. She was a member of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall church. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Earl Johnson of Whitewright; 2 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
