Charlsie Ralene Hill, 83, of Tom Bean, Texas passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman, Texas. Charlsie was born on January 5, 1935 to Emmett Weldon Cooper and Margaret Clarice Hicks Cooper in Ambrose, Texas. She was a daddy's girl who loved being a Majorette, acting as captain during her Junior and Senior years. She was married at 18 to Gene Cowan and together they had a daughter, Bobbie. After Gene's passing, Charlsie met Bub Hill, to whom she was married for 58 years. When Charlsie wasn't listening to Vince Gill, she could be found at the First Baptist Church at Tom Bean for Sunday School, the beauty parlor with friends, watching the Texas Rangers in her favorite chair, playing dominoes, or spending time with family - Bub, their daughter, Tammie and her husband, Don Thorpe, son-in-law, Dennis and wife Carol Southerland; grandchildren, Amber and Shane Pennell, Caleb and Misty Southerland, Jenny and Kevin Nowakowski, Don and Emi Thorpe, Drew and Erin Thorpe; great-grandchildren, Colby and Megan Pennell, Meredith and Emmy Pennell, Kason and Carter Southerland, Ellie Thorpe and all her cousins, nieces and nephews. Whether it was cheering on the grandkids at their Tomcat games, teaching them to knit and crochet, spending countless hours in conversations with them, or enjoying all the pranks played amongst the family, Charlsie was always quick with a kind word, and quicker with her infectious laughter. Charlsie was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; daughter, Bobbie Cowan Southerland; and sister, Helen Jean Dexheimer. A funeral service was held Saturday morning, April 28 at the First Baptist Church in Tom Bean. Larry Craig officiated the service. Private interment followed at Vittitoe Cemetery in Whitewright, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Bobbie Southerland Memorial Scholarship fund at Texas Star Bank, P.O.
