The Whitewright Sun Friday, May 17, 1918 pg. 6 Walter Staton, thirty-five years old, died Sunday afternoon following an illness of several weeks' duration. He was the son of Mrs. J.R. Murphy, who resides southwest of town. For the past year he has made his home at Kansas City. About two weeks ago his mother went to Kansas City to see him and he accompanied her home, where he died. The funeral was conducted by Rev. J.I. Teague and Rev. J.A. Henderson Monday afternoon at the Vittitoe cemetery, where the body was tenderly laid to rest by friends.
