Sherman Democrat November 1,1934 Mrs. William Stephens (Jo Ann Gardner), 77, died at 3 a.m. Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. S. Shugart, three miles south of Sherman. Mrs. Stephens had been ill three months. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Shugart residence, conducted by J. P. Sanders, Minister of the Walnut Street Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Vittitoe Cemetery, near Kentuckytown, under the direction of the Talley Funeral Home. Surviving are a son, W. W. Stephens, of three miles south of Sherman; a daughter, Mrs. Shugart; and a sister, Mrs. J. N. Teague of Howe route 1. Mrs. Stephens also leaves four grandchildren, F. S. Shugart, Mrs. R. F. Wardlaw and Miss Inez Shugart, of south of Sherman and Mrs. Richard Armstrong of Athens, Tennessee, and nine great grandchildren. Mrs. Stephens has lived in Grayson county practically all her life.
