The Courier-Gazette McKinney, Texas May 26, 1953 pg. 8 SERVICES HELD AT TOM BEAN FOR J.F. BALL Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Waldo Chapel for John F. Ball, 77, prominent Tom Bean businessman and landowner, who died Saturday at his home in Tom Bean after a two-year illness. B.E. Lemmons, pastor of the Walnut Street Church of Christ officiated. Burial was in the Vittitoe Cemetery. Ball and his son, Grantlin Ball, had operated a general merchandise store at Tom Bean since 1926. Ball was born December 4, 1875, at Trenton. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Ball. In 1894 he was married to Miss Flora Yowell at Whitewright. She died in 1930. Ball was a member of the Tom Bean Church of Christ. He is survived by four sons, Grantlin Ball, of Tom Bean; Orville Ball, of San Diego, California; Leon Ball, of Whitewright; and Howard Ball, of McKinney; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Foster, of San Diego, California; Miss Leta Ball of Tom Bean and Mrs. J.E. Tramel, of Tom Bean; two brothers, Walter Ball and George Ball, of Whitewright; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Caylor, of Hugo, Oklahoma; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
