  L.R. Short 1873 - 19-- Hattie Short 1877 - 1951 The Whitewright Sun Thursday, September 23, 1971 pg. 4 Graveside services were held for Sam Short, age 66, at 3:30 p.m. at Vittitoe Cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. Houston Garner. He passed away at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Parkland Hospital in Dallas where he was a resident. Mr. Short was born September 28, 1905 in Whitewright, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. L.R. Short. He was a custodian in the Dallas schools. He is survived by one brother, Charlie of Trenton; five sisters, Mrs. Cassie Mullins, Pottsboro; Mrs. Viola Sutherland, Denison; Mrs. Ruth Blankenship, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Juanita Watson, Bakersfield, California; and Mrs. James Davis of Dallas.
