Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Tom Bean. The Rev. Tom Campbell and the Rev. Mike Courtney will officiate. Burial: Vittitoe Cemetery in Grayson County. Family night: 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Earnhart Funeral Home, Whitewright. Pallbearers: Ron Hamilton, Pat Hamilton, Ricky Hamilton, Bill Hamilton, Charlie Huddleston, Calvin Bruce, Leland Hale and Wilfred Cain. Memorials: Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. Mr. McKinney was born Nov. 30, 1925, in Savoy to Samuel Porter McKinney and Ollie Blakey McKinney. He married Alma Jean Neal on May 11, 1946, in Savoy. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was wounded in action during the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium. He received the Purple Heart and a Bronze Service Star. Mr. McKinney retired from the civil service where he worked as supervisory contract construction inspector in civil engineering. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Whitewright Masonic Lodge 167. He served in World War II in the Army. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tom Bean. Survivors: Wife, Alma Jean McKinney of Sherman; sons, Mark S. McKinney of Pittsburg, Gary D. McKinney of Saginaw and Donald K. McKinney of Wichita Falls; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The Herald Democrat January 12, 2012 SHERMAN - Alma "Jean" Neal McKinney was born March 25, 1928, at Kentuckytown, Texas to Timothy Dale Neal and Lockie Marie Harp Neal. She married Mark Truman McKinney on May 11, 1946, at Savoy, Texas. She died Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas at the age of 83. Jean was a 1945, graduate of Whitewright High School. She was proud to serve in the Federal Civil Service for twenty-eighty and a half years. She retired as a Real Property Officer for the US Air Force at Carswell AFB, Fort Worth, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tom Bean. She is survived by son, Mark S. McKinney and wife Nancy of Pittsburg; son, Gary D. McKinney and wife Debbie of Saginaw; son, Donald K. McKinney of Sherman; grandchildren, Mark T. McKinney and wife Angie, Kimberly Beard, Travis Forehand and wife Kayla, and Christen Anderson and husband Cody; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Neal and wife Billie Jean of Bells; sister, Maxine Pierce and husband Bill of San Antonio; sister, Aline Anderson and husband Eddie Ray of Whitewright; sister, Betty Christine Neal of Kentuckytown; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 56 years, Mark Truman McKinney; brother, W. D. "Buck" Neal. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2012, at First Baptist Church, Tom Bean, Texas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Billy Neal Jr. and Rev. John Hall. Burial will follow at Vittitoe Cemetery in Grayson County, Texas. Pallbearers will be Charles Huddleston, Billy Hamilton, Cody Anderson, Mark T. McKinney, Mark Ryan McKinney, and Bruce Neal. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Friday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday, January 13, 2012, from 6-8 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas.
