William B. Duncan, long-time curator in the University of Texas chemistry department, died at Austin Saturday.  Funeral services were held at the University Methodist Church, Austin, conducted by Red. Edmund Heinsohn, with Dr. Dan Grieder assisting.
The body was brought to Whitewright over the Katy Railroad,  arriving here at 11 a.m. Monday.  It was taken directly to Vittitoe Cemetery, west of town, where final rites were conducted by Dr. Alan Harvey-Brooks, pastor of the Methodist Church.  Pallbearers were John Reeves, R.A. Gillett, F.M. Echols, W.J. Barbee, C.W. Pope, and J.B. Hamilton.  Honorary pallbearers were Ben Montgomery, F.E. Vittitoe, R.S. Fulton, Bob Piner, John Hoard, John McMurry, Tom Smith, Barlow Roberts, Guy Hamilton, J.M. Parrish, and Sewell McKinney.
A large number of Mr. Duncan's friends from Sherman, Van Alstyne, and other places attended the services.
Mr. Duncan was born in Tennessee December 19, 1880, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Duncan.  He came as a young man to McKinney, then to Whitewright to attend Grayson College.  He was married to Miss Burnette Connelly of Kentuckytown, and they lived at Van Alstyne where he taught in old Columbia College for a time.  They then moved to Austin, where both Mr. and Mrs. Duncan taught in the state institute for the blind before Mr. Duncan became connected with the University of Texas.  He was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving Mr. Duncan are his widow; a son, Hal Duncan of New York City; a daughter, Mrs. N.C. Sanford of Austin, and two sisters in Abilene.  Mrs. Duncan is a sister of Miss Mary Connelly of Sherman and Pascal Connelly of Kentuckytown.
