This monument permanently marks the unmarked graves of the House Family members named above.  It was donated by James Odyssious House, the son of James Alvie House (Jim) and the grandson of George Washington House.

Funeral services for George Washington House, 99, who died at 1 a.m. Sunday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. C. Walters, northwest of Bells, were held Sunday afternoon at the Virginia Point Methodist Church.  Rev. J.A. Henderson, Pilot Grove Baptist minister and Rev. E.J. Holifield, Bells Methodist pastor, officiated.  Interment was in Virginia Point Cemetery, directed by Glen Earnheart of Whitewright.
Mr. House was born March 1, 1839 at Memphis, Tennessee.  He was reared in Tennessee and served in the Civil War.  Twice married, he was the father of 18 children, eight of whom are living.  His second wife was Miss Callie Russell, whom he married March 8, 1877 in Memphis.  He came to Texas about 45 years ago.
Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Ludie Garner of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee; Mrs. Walters of Bells; Mrs. Frank Lawrence of Bonham; Mrs. Sudie Castell of Fort Worth; Mrs. Lillie Anderson of Savoy; and Mrs.Cora Beene of Greenville; two sons, Newton House of Bells and Jim House of Boswell, Oklahoma; 50 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
