Friday, February 6, 1953 pg. 4 Funeral services were held at Virginia Point Methodist Church Wednesday for William R . Sanford, 84, of Ambrose, who died in a local hospital Monday after 2 weeks of illness. Rev. Harold K. Davis of Savoy and Rev. Baxter Bryant of Duganville officiated and interment was in Virginia Point cemetery with Bratcher-Moore funeral directors in charge of arrangements. Sanford was born in Georgia, October 24, 1867, son of Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Sanford. He attended school in Hebron and had lived most of his life in the Ambrose vicinity. He was a farmer, and had never married. His brother, Oscar T. Sanford, died January 18, this year. Survivors include a half-brother, E.C. Goree, Plainview; 2 half-sisters, Mrs. Jim Gilliam, Ambrose and Mrs. Mary Ella Goree, Paris; and a niece, Mrs. Robert Fleming of Ambrose with whom he made his home.
