Spillers 1909 - 1975 Vernell Spillers 1915 - 2004 Sherman Democrat Wednesday, April 16, 1975 Van Alstyne - Services for Marvin Edwin Spillers, 65, a retired employee of Southern Pacific Railroad who died Tuesday at his home here, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Van Alstyne Church of Christ, conducted by Grady Langford and Douglas Bickenbach, both church of Christ ministers. Burial will be at Van Alstyne Cemetery under direction of Flesher Funeral Home. Mr. Spilleres was born in Texas, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George M. Spillers. He was a member of the church of Christ. He married Vernell Huffaker in 1934 at Sherman. Surviving are his wife; daughters, Mrs. Betty Nell Fletcher Willsie and Debbie Troxtell, both of Van Alstyne, and Mrs. Linda McNeesse of Richardson; sons, Bobby Spillers of Alvarado, and Gary Spillers of Van Alstyne; sisters, Mrs. Thelma Leverette of Ft. Worth and Mrs. Mary Ellen Parks of Melissa; brother, Paul Spillers of Sherman; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
