Van Alstyne Leader

Services for Glen P. Carpenter, 58, of Van Alstyne, were held April 20 in Van Alstyne Cemetery.  He died April 18 at his home.

Mr. Carpenter was born in Oklahoma, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Carpenter, and married Helen Johnson on April 7, 1952 in Fort Worth. He was a retired foreman for Victor Equipment Co. in Denton, and was a Methodist.

Surviving are his wife; son, Dale Carpenter of Dallas; brother, Clyde Carpenter of Abilene and sister, Velma G. Swanson of Portland, Ore.

Helen Ruth Carpenter age 83 of Van Alstyne Texas passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Carrus Hospital in Sherman. She was born April 3, 1929 in Rule Texas to Thomas Johnston and Lois Cotner Johnston. She married Glen Carpenter on April 7, 1952 in Ft. Worth Texas.

She is survived by her nephew David Taylor of Garland, and her caregiver Penny Tucker of Van Alstyne.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at 2:00 PM at the Van Alstyne Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM at the Funeral Home prior to service.
