Raymond G. Caldwell 17 April 1914 - 13 March 2004 Velma Ruth Caldwell 7 June 1918 - 24 June 2011 Velma
Ruth Caldwell, age 93, went home to be with the Lord Friday, June 24,
2001, at Red River Regional Hospital in Bonham, Texas. Mrs.
Caldwell was born June 7, 1918 in Sherman, Texas, the daughter of
Charlie and Stella Lee (Hicks) Inmon. Velma married the love of her
life, Raymond Caldwell on January 1, 1964 in Sherman, Texas. Velma
owned and operated a Phillips 66 gas station in Van Alstyne for sixteen
years. She enjoyed doing crafts, gardening and working in her yard, she
definitely had a green thumb. Velma had a way of problem solving and
making sure everything was alright. She loved the Lord and was very
involved in church work. She attended First Baptist Church in Van
Alstyne and Boyd Baptist Church in Bonham. Velma was a loving and
devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and
great-great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and
loved her. Mrs. Caldwell is survived by her beloved family; son, Troy
Pruitt of Bonham, Texas, daughter, Verna Atkins of Bonham, Texas, step
daughter Janet Kimmel and husband, Joe, of California and their
children, Marty and Kathy Kimmel and step daughter Delores Newman and
husband, Glen, of Oklahoma and their children, Vickie and Garvin
Reeves, six grandchildren, Darlene Howdershell and husband, Joe, of
Bonham, Texas, Mark Atkins and wife, Melinda of Van Alstyne, Texas,
Sheila Madole and husband, Gary, of Bonham, Texas, Jennifer Pate and
husband, Troy, of Bonham, Texas, Troy Lee Pruitt of Quinlan, Texas and
Ashley Pruitt of Quinlan, Texas; nine great-grandchildren and eleven
great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Velma
was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Stella Inmon,
husband, Raymond Caldwell, son, Jimmy Lee Adams, sisters, Vera McTee
and Ruby Daugherty and brother, Roy Inmon. Graveside services will be
held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011 in Van Alstyne Cemetery with
Brother Lyn Holly officiating. On Sunday, June 26, 2011 the funeral
home will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. for viewing. Arrangements are under
the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, located at 604 West Main in
Denison.
