Jerry
Dale Moody, age 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 12
surrounded by his family. Jerry was born on April 29, 1946 in Crockett,
Texas to Rev. J.A. Moody and Edna McCarter Moody. Jerry’s dad was a
preacher and the family moved around a lot. He pastored churches in
Crockett, Wichita Falls, White Settlement and Van Alstyne. Jerry
graduated from Van Alstyne High School in 1965. Jerry entered the
United States Coast Guard after graduation. He was enlisted from
1965-1969 and was stationed in Alaska. After returning from the
service, he was employed as a Garland police officer and worked in an
organized crime unit in north Texas for nine years. After leaving the
department he was a custom home builder in the Van Alstyne area until
his death. He always helped his kids with all home projects, and he
could do them in “five minutes”.
Jerry Moody was preceded in death by his parents Rev. J. A. and Edna McCarter Moody; brothers Bill Moody, H.W. Moody, Rex Moody; brother-in-law C. L. Simco; and special Aunt Janie Eller. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Vicki Moody, brother Charlie Moody and wife Debbie; sister Mary Simco; six children, Michael Moody, Greg Moody and wife Wendy, Jimmy Holley and wife Brittney, Jeff Moody and wife Dena, Kristi Risner and husband Jayson, Katie Stinton and husband Zach. Jerry also survived by 14 grandchildren, Jayson (Blanca), Bailey (Ashley) Bryce (Kristen), Sadie, Lorali, Brayden, Briley, Mikala, McKinley, Wyatt, Reese, Sloane, Cruz, Max, and 6 great grandchildren, Rolando, Jason, Tyler, Cash, Isabella, and Mason Dale who was named after him. Jerry was also survived in death by many cousins, nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 15 from 10 to 11am at Greywood Heights Church of God in Van Alstyne. Services will be held 11am and followed by a graveside service at the Van Alstyne Cemetery.
