Charles "Chuck" Nick Ganakos, (82), of Allen, Texas passed away on March 24, 2023 at his home after battling cancer.
Visitation will be at 1:00 pm on March 30, 2023 at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:05 pm immediately following the visitation with Pastor Chad Selph of First Baptist Church of Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Van Alstyne Cemetery. Chuck was born in Chicago, Illinois to Nick and Amanda Ganakos on June 4, 1940. His family moved to Texas when he was a young age and he attended Adamson High School in Dallas, Texas. He married Barbara Harris on March 17, 1961 in Dallas, Texas. He worked as a salesman for Snap-on Tool for 20 years before working for various other tool companies. He ended his career working for Presto Maintenance Supply, located in Houston, Texas. Chuck was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Allen. Chuck was an avid baseball fan and spent much of his time collecting baseball cards and memorabilia, but his greatest joy in life was his family. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Nick Ganakos and Amanda Ganakos Johnson and father-in-law/mother-in-law, Cleo and Dovie Harris, and nephew Joel Harris. Chuck is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara, and his son Parrish and wife Kathy Ganakos of Allen, Tx.; brothers, Pete Ganakos of Dallas, Tx. and Nick Ganakos of Houston, Tx.; sisters, Katherine Ganakos of Ft. Worth, Tx. and Kitten Lee of Cumby, Tx.; grandchildren, Garrett and Kenzie Ganakos. Brother-in-laws, Jerry Harris and wife Carolyn of Carrollton, Tx. and Richard Harris and wife Lora of Allen, Tx. Special nieces and nephews including Jeff (& Dianne) Harris, Evon (& Michael) Harris, Michelle (& Eric) Reising, Courtney Harris, Clint (& Brei) Harris, Joseph Ganakos, Richard (& Shirl) Lee, and David (& Angela) Lee. Pallbearers will be Carl Nehrbass, Richard Harris, Jeff Harris, Parrish Ganakos, Clint Harris and Garrett Ganakos. Honorary pallbearers are Joseph Ganakos, Richard Lee, David Lee, Dale Morgan, Tyler Miles, and Jim Waite. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to MaxServe Hospice, Allen Fire Department, and special neighbors for their kindness and compassion during Chuck's final week.
