Billie Ruth (Skipworth Gaskill) Vawter age 94 of Van Alstyne passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 in McKinney.

She was born November 25, 1920 in Grayson County to Ed and Helen Aaron Skipworth. She married Ray Gaskill on March 18, 1945. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1978.

She then married Carl Vawter November 25, 1980. Billie was a member of First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne for 67 years. She was an avid reader and quilter. Billie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Gaskill; sister, Sue Grice; brothers, Harold Skipworth, Joe Skipworth and Buddy Skipworth. Billie is survived by her husband, Carl Vawter of Van Alstyne. Son, Glenn Gaskill and wife Sue of Van Alstyne. Grandchildren, Bridget Virden and husband Doug, and Brad Gaskill. 4 great-granddaughters, Madeleine and Chloe Virden and Evie and Millie Gaskill.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne. Burial will follow in the Van Alstyne Cemetery. If desired memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne. Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home, 637 W.
