  Norman Keith Akins Norman
Keith (Pat) Akins, 73, of Van Alstyne, Texas passed away on February 4,
2022. He proudly served in the United States Army in the 3rd Armored
Division (Spearhead) after graduating from Van Alstyne High School in
1967. When he returned from the Army, he started his career as a
plumber in the Van Alstyne area and continued this profession for over
50 years.
Pat was a member of the First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne and had served as a Sunday school teacher in his younger days. He always enjoyed socializing and visiting with customers, friends, and family. He loved fishing with his close friends and attending fishing tournaments. In his leisure time he enjoyed attending sporting events of extended family and eating out at his favorite places. He also loved spending time with his faithful lab companion "Hershey". He is preceded in death by his parents: Euilee and Juanita Akins; brother, Mike Akins and companion, Sharon Walker. He is survived by his son, Gary Akins of Van Alstyne, Texas and fiancee Virginia; sister-in-law, Susie Akins of Austin, Texas; nephew, Lance Akins and his wife of Austin, Texas; niece, Jeny Akins of Austin, Texas. Pat has numerous extended family and friends that welcomed him in their home and considered him family over the years. To include his special neighbors that always looked after him and Hershey throughout the years. We will miss his laugh, sense of humor and fun personality. He always made friends wherever he went. Visitation will be Thursday, February 10, 6-8pm at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, Texas. Service will be held on Friday, February 11, at 2pm at Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne, Texas. Burial will immediately follow at Van Alstyne Cemetery. Steve Vest, Chris Akins, Mark Akins, James Flanery, Michael Perry and Robert Owen will serve as pallbearers.
