Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Richard Allison Edwards was born on Easter Sunday, April 13, 1952, to Jeff Davis Edwards and Audrey Nell Sledge Edwards in Sherman, Texas. He passed from this earthly life on March 27, 2021, in Ohio.

He is survived by his mother Audrey Nell Slack of Van Alstyne, his son, Edgar Matthew Edwards and wife Jenni, daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Edwards Kelsay and husband Jason, step-mother Nanette Edwards, sisters Roxanne Edwards and Ruthlynn Black and husband Tony, step-sister Deanna McCormick and husband David, Carolyn Bell and husband Danny, step-brothers Michael Perry, David Perry and Dennis Groneman and grandchildren Wesley, Logan, Alex, Lily, Annabelle and William.

He was pre-deceased in death by his son Wayne Edwards, father Jeff Edwards, Step-Father Chuck Slack and brother Robbie Edwards.

Richard graduated from Van Alstyne High School 51 years ago, on May 22, 1970. Upon graduation he began his career with the U.S. Air Force. He married Teena Delzell of Denver, Colorado and they had three children.

Upon his discharge from the Air Force, he continued his employment with various military bases both stateside and overseas. After completely retiring, Texas was calling and he returned home. Little did he know he already had the beginnings of Parkinson's disease. Unable to continue living by himself, his son Matthew moved him to Ohio to be near him and his family. Rick died in Ohio and is being laid to rest beside his brother, Robbie, in the Van Alstyne Cemetery.
