Kenneth Lindy Hankey passed away on September 5, 2020 at his home after sustaining a severe head injury from a bad fall. His beloved wife, Robbie and family were by his side. He was born on July 1, 1927 in Kenefic, OK, to Sam and Eslie Hankey. He grew up on a farm near Kenefic and finished high school at cobb, OK. He grew up with one sister and four brothers.
Lindy was one of the best farmers and ranchers in Brayan County, for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II stationed in Germany. Lindy liked to play dominoes with his friends and enjoyed watching all college sports, especially the OU Sooners.
He and Robbie moved to Howe, TX, about eleven years ago and began attending and supporting the First Baptist Church and continued until he was physically unable. Lindy and Robbie Purkey were married on March 13, 1982 at the First Baptist Church of Howe.
He is survived by his wife Robbie and his three children Karen, Lisa and Danny, six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Sister Gwen Rinaldi of Redwood City, CA. One brother Ferrell Hankey and wife Friedel of Frisco, TX, and Lowell’s wife Rosa Lee Hankey of Katy, TX. He is preceded in death by parents and brothers Lowell, Carroll and wife (Ruby), Sammy and wife (Virginia). Lindy will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Art Rayburn officiating. Burial will follow at the Van Alstyne Cemetery. The family will receive friends one-hour prior of service.
