Van Alstyne, Texas -- Shirley Gandy-Triplett, 82, of Van Alstyne was born February 2, 1935 in Van Alstyne, Texas to her mother Thelma Arnspiger and father Henry Gandy. She passed away peacefully at home while
at rest on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

Shirley worked for many years at the First National Bank of Van Alstyne, now Texas Star Bank. Family and friends were Shirley’s love and joy. She loved to collect and try new recipes; she also adored her dog named “BEBE.” Shirley enjoyed picnics, chatting with lifelong friends, and many trips to City Drug to visit her dear friends. Shirley’s favorite hobby was every woman’s dream which included shopping, shopping and more shopping.
Shirley married her high school sweetheart William Burns, which resulted in her only child Karla Chandler, whom she loved dearly. Later in life she married Dr. Myrick Neal Triplett, where they traveled to several places making many beautiful memories to share together.
Shirley Triplett is survived by her sister Elizabeth Holder, daughter Karla Chandler and her husband James Chandler. Step-children: Rick Triplett, Marianna Howells and Staci Triplett Lovelace. She loved her grandchildren Kennon Chandler, Kendall Morin and her husband Robert Morin and Keleb Chandler. Her pride and joy were her great-grandchildren Cash and Carena Morin, amongst several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren on both sides of her family. She is preceded in death by her father and mother as well as her brother Vernon and sister Venita.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2018 at Scoggins Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Van Alstyne Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
